Sou’s minka Luru opened on March 15, 2024, in conjunction with the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those involved and the local community who worked hard to make this possible.

Imajo-juku, a town designated as a Important Cultural Property

In 2021, Imajo-juku was designated by the government as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The Edo-period street layout is still vividly visible, and the houses lining the streets exude a relaxing, nostalgic atmosphere. It is a source of pride for us who live in this town, and an important heritage that we want to continue to cherish.

Traditional house “Okuda family” lodging

Luru is one of these traditional buildings, and is characterized by its sodeudatsu (a traditional Japanese style wall), earthen walls, and thick beams. While retaining the feel of an old house, we have renovated it using cutting-edge insulation technology to make it warm and comfortable for our guests. We have also carefully selected each and every piece of equipment, bedding, and amenities.

Traditional crafts from Echizen are used for the tableware and cooking utensils. In this region, where the cold is particularly severe, many local industries have taken root and have been carefully passed down from person to person. Please feel the creativity and delicacy that represents the way of life of the artists.

We at Lulu will continue to work every day to preserve Imasho-juku. In addition to historical sites, the town of Imasho-juku is lined with long-standing shops and soba restaurants, making it a fun place to stroll around. If you have the opportunity, we hope you will visit us.
